So why Grafon?
I’ve written about a little bit of everything, from reporting on contentious School Board meetings to the history of downtown Tampa’s minarets, from a Category 5 hurricane to a coral reef in Key West, from a World War II-era open-cockpit airplane to a sordid murder trial.
I have a way of making every story about a person and not just an issue. Just read this piece.
I started “Generation Gap,” a series riffing on generational divides where I debated the Tampa Bay Times’ chairman and CEO.
I co-created the Tampa Bay Times’ audience engagement series, Florida Wonders.
I created a viral “How Florida are you?” quiz that had people commenting their scores for days.
I was a key member of a weekly podcast on MTV’s "Siesta Key.”
I’m comfortable in front of the camera — check out this video editorial as proof.
I managed a Facebook group on local schools that has since grown to almost 5,000 members.
How to work with us
Cover an unexplored beat. Most newsrooms have beats that go uncovered simply because they don’t have the employees. But what if you could hire an experienced reporter on contract to cover a beat for your organization, for as long or as short of a time as you’d like?
Contract a long-term project. Do you have a long-term enterprise reporting project your news organization wants to take on — but can’t spare someone for that long? Hire a reporter on contract who will work alongside your staffers to deliver.
Write nuanced and in-depth analysis. Do you want to publish commentary or policy analysis in your news organization but don’t have anyone on board with those skills? Hire a contract journalist who has the experience and the know-how to complete the work you want.
